To encourage praise, prayer and the word of God,  to accept all people from all walks of life, to reach out into our community to make it a better place, and to grow our love for God and for each other.

Who We Are

Calvary Community Church, is just that, a “COMMUNITY” church, focusing on continuing to be a pillar in the Columbus Community. We have a long history of advocacy and support for the underserved, and will strive to partner with our city to make Columbus a better place to live. All this will be rooted and grounded by the word of God, and the following of Jesus Christ.

What We Believe

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Lord of all, and the church is to carry out that message. We Believe that the word of God is the instruction manual for abundant living. And we believe that if you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior and follow His word, that you will become apart of His family as a child of God.

About Our Pastor

Pastor Frank Griffin was born and raised in Indianapolis Indiana. A proud graduate of Crispus Attucks High School and also a graduate of Purdue University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He also has a MBA from Purdue Krannert School of Management. Frank has his master’s and Doctorate degrees in Theology from Calvary Midwest Bible College.

While serving before he became a Pastor, Pastor Frank served as youth director, church administrator, deacon, trustee, director of finances, director of men’s ministry, Sunday school teacher and assistant pastor. Dr. Griffin has also taught classes at Calvary Midwest Bible College. Involved in several mission trips, Frank has traveled to the Philippines, Nigeria and Cameroon.

Heavily involved in his local community, Pastor Frank is a member of several community groups and committees, one being on the board of SuCasa. He is also a member of the Bartholomew County School Corporation Diversity Council. Frank is a member of the steering committee for the Council for Youth Development, as well as the leader of the African American Pastor’s Alliance in Columbus IN.

Dr. Griffin has been married to his beautiful wife Debra since 1990 and is the proud parent of two great daughters –Lauren and Tabytha and grandparent of Miles and Harper.

Founders

Bishop Charles Arthur Sims is the esteemed Senior Pastor and visionary Founder of Calvary Community Church of the Apostolic Faith in Columbus, Indiana, a role he's faithfully upheld since 1975. Additionally, he serves as Diocesan of the 4th Episcopal District, Indiana Council of the Apostolic Bible Students Association. Born in rural Indiana, he graduated from Reelsville High School in 1961 and embarked on a career journey that included law enforcement, civil rights work, and academic achievements in history and theology.

Bishop Sims is not only a prolific author and pioneer of various ministries but also a devoted family man. He has been married to his beloved wife, Dr. Jane A. Sims, for 49 years, and they are the proud parents of five children and doting grandparents to 13 grandchildren.

Dr. Jane Ann Rice Sims, an Indianapolis native and lifelong member of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, received her theological education from esteemed institutions. Her extensive contributions span ministry, academia, and community service, including her role as editor, teacher, and advocate for women in ministry. Alongside her husband, Bishop Sims, she co-founded Calvary Community Church in 1975 and continues to serve as Co-Pastor with unwavering dedication, completing a partnership of faith that has thrived for nearly five decades.
